- KABIR'S GREENATHON

KABIR'S GREENATHON

The fact that the planet is in trouble is not something that can be disputed even if we believe or don't believe in global warming. As this is the only home we have and as our children and their children take over, it becomes a greater cause for concern.

There is no point in waiting for a magic bullet solution to the problems; nothing will really change unless we make the effort to change as well. School had organized 3rd Kabir’s Greenathon for promotion of environment protection. More than 900 students, teachers and parents had participated in this mega event of school and winners in four different categories were honoured by cash prize.

- Green School Programme

The fact that the planet is in trouble is not something that can be disputed even if we believe or don't believe in global warming. As this is the only home we have and as our children and their children take over, it becomes a greater cause for concern. There is no point in waiting for a magic bullet solution to the problems, nothing will really change unless we make the effort to change as well. Every Year School organizes Kabir’s Greenathon for promotion of environment protection. Students, teachers and parents participate in this mega event of school and winners in four different categories honoured by cash prize. We started the Green School Programme with a simple idea.
We know that environmental challenges are growing. We also know that the challenge, are enormous, which need each one of us to get involved.
Under green school club, school had adopted a village Ramayana .Students, teachers and management had planted a few trees and herbs donated more than 1000 plants in Ramayana village and nearby parks.Over the last few years, the idea has gathered momentum .More and more students, teachers & parents across India had become a part of this learning exercise. They have learned that what they know is not enough to protect the environment and what they preach is often not easy to practice. But they have also learned the rationale of what they should do that will make a difference in the world.

- School Community Service

Inculcating moral ethics in today’s young generation is a challenging task. At times, we feel that as parents or teachers we are somehow lagging behind in imparting adequate moral in our young generation. We can gradually see the social value and relations are fading away from the society. St.Kabir’s school is making efforts to revive those values in the future citizen of our nation under the programme SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICES by involving students and teachers.

School has adopted a village called ‘Ramayana’ situated 40 kms from Hisar where students and teachers regularly visit and carry out many awareness campaigns. The School has contributed around 500 books to the library of the village school. The Eco-Club of the school planted more than 100 trees in villages and created awareness through street plays on safeguarding existing water bodies which all are badly polluted. Students visited Orphanage centre and Old-age home of the city. The students donated T-shirts, dupattas, entertainment items, snacks, and other needful items. Orphanages and old home people enjoyed playing games with the students. They shared their views with each other.

The students created a lively and happy environment by organizing small skit and revealed interest in importing all kinds of needful help. The overall environment out here touched the student’s emotions and motivated them to keep doing such activities. The quality time spent left lingering good memories.
The students prepared gift items from paper Mache and bags by using waste clothes. We invited orphanages and old age people to the function  organized at SUMMER HOOPLA as a guest of honour and gifted them with these items and their photograph as a token of love and beautiful memories.
.
The learning experience gained through active participation imbibed students with the value system in young generation. Also, students develop civic and social responsibility skill and become more aware of their community needs. Such learning experience may act as catalyst in the life of a student where a student may seek to develop an innovative solution to any complex social-issue which he/she has encountered. The true test will be to see if a large number of students will combine  the trend at least  receive this exposure to work, service and giving back to the community
